Senior LDS missionary dies in garden mowing accident

SALT LAKE CITY (ABC4) — A senior missionary of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has handed away in a garden mowing accident in Missouri, in accordance with church officers.

Elder Brent Blackburn, 68, died on Saturday, Aug. 23, close to Gallatin, Missouri. He was working a garden mower on the grounds of the church’s Adam-ondi-Ahman historic web site, using the mower on a aspect hill when it overturned, in accordance with the church.

Elder Blackburn has been serving along with his spouse, Sister Carolyn Blackburn, on the web site since April 2025. They’re from the Helper Utah Stake.

“Our condolences and prayers are with Sister Blackburn and their household at this troublesome time,” a press launch from the church states. “We pray that every one who’re affected by this can really feel the peace and luxury of our loving Heavenly Father as they honor the life and trustworthy service of Elder Blackburn.”
