A head-on collision involving two semitrucks Thursday morning close to Avenal in Kings County resulted in 3,000 gallons of oil spillage and an hours-long freeway closure.
The accident occurred at about 6:20 a.m. on Freeway 33, north of South seventh Avenue in Avenal, in response to Kings County spokesperson Michael Powers.
Roughly 3,000 gallons of crude oil spilled on the scene because of the crash, stated Powers.

The drivers of the 2 semitrucks sustained minor accidents, with one driver being extricated from their car by the Kings County Fireplace Division. Each drivers declined to be taken to the hospital.
The cleanup effort concerned a number of hazmat groups and a number of legislation enforcement companies.

The freeway is anticipated to be closed for the rest of the day.
