A “huge” landslide between Kernville and Siletz has closed Freeway 229 indefinitely, in keeping with the Oregon Division of Transportation.
The landslide, reported 10 miles north of Siletz round milepost 14, has “taken out the highway,” in keeping with ODOT’s Tripcheck.
“This might be a long-term closure, although we don’t but know whether or not which means days, weeks, months, or longer,” ODOT spokesperson Mindy McCartt stated.

The Oregon Coast has skilled heavy rainfall because the Pacific Northwest was pummeled by an atmospheric river. Lincoln Metropolis and the encompassing space has obtained an estimated 2.16 inches of rain within the final seven days.
