Newly launched photographs from Artemis II moon mission present Milky Method galaxy, star trails

Over the weekend, NASA made public greater than 12,000 images from the historic Artemis II lunar mission.

Final month, the four-person crew traveled 694,481 miles and looped across the far facet of the moon for the primary time in additional than 50 years.

The crew broke the document for the farthest distance people have ever traveled from Earth and noticed extra of the far facet of the moon than anybody earlier than them.

Over the course of the mission, NASA launched dozens of photos of the astronauts, Earth, the moon and even a complete photo voltaic eclipse.

Nonetheless, the brand new trove reveals some never-before-seen images in addition to new angles of objects in house, primarily utilizing Nikon cameras and iPhone 17s.

Included within the set are star trails — or lengthy publicity pictures displaying the motion of stars within the sky — close-up photographs of the lunar floor, the solar’s corona peeking out from behind the moon through the photo voltaic eclipse and the Milky Method galaxy.

One other set of photos present mission commander Reid Wiseman, mission pilot Victor Glover and mission specialists Christina Koch and Jeremy Hansen every posing in entrance of a window on the Orion spacecraft with a crescent Earth within the distance.
