Aviation and aerospace would be the “twin, reinforcing engines of development” for Singapore’s economic system, in keeping with Deputy Prime Minister Gan Kim Yong.
DPM Gan made the remarks through the opening ceremony of the Singapore Airshow 2026 on Monday (2 Feb) the place he emphasised how Singapore has constructed its relevance by connecting individuals and markets, as per the Straits Instances.
Singapore is ready to place itself as a number one air hub in addition to a sophisticated manufacturing and engineering base. “These strengths reinforce each other,” Gan was quoted as saying.
Gan revealed that for the reason that final air present, Singapore has attracted greater than $750 million in funding commitments throughout aerospace manufacturing, upkeep, restore and overhaul, in addition to aftermarket companies. He expects this to create almost 600 jobs over the following 5 years.
