My new favourite “will they or gained’t they” second in pop-culture historical past is that this bizarre collection of missed connections between Paris Hilton and Jonathan Van Meter, Kim Kardashian’s biographer. Van Meter, who spent 5 years engaged on Citizen Kim: The Girl Who Created the Future, just lately sat down with The Hollywood Reporter to debate his writing method in addition to the numerous, many occasions he tried and failed to take a seat down with Hilton for an interview.
It was “late within the course of” when Van Meter informed Kardashian he wished to talk together with her former employer, so Kardashian despatched a textual content. Van Meter says Hilton agreed to talk with him however requested that he schedule the interview by means of her publicist — an uncommon request, since everybody else had apparently agreed to talk with none third-party involvement.
“I despatched questions, linked with Paris’ assistant, after which the interview was canceled 17 occasions over about 4 months,” Van Meter stated. “Finally I assumed the cancellations have been extra fascinating than no matter she’d inform me.”
I agree. The query we should ask ourselves right here is why: Why didn’t Hilton simply say “no” to the interview? It’s a critical time dedication to cancel and reschedule an appointment even as soon as, not to mention 17 occasions. Like Van Meter, I discover the cancellations amusing, a hilarious bit. Kim, nevertheless, didn’t. Van Meter informed THR that the rebuff “appeared to fire up some historical irritation between them. The creation turning on the creator.” Is {that a} Frankenstein analogy?

Kardashian famously labored as Hilton’s assistant and stylist for roughly three years within the early 2000s, although they haven’t been seen collectively a lot previously couple many years. Whether or not or not that’s as a result of some “historical irritation” between the 2 of them is a unique query. In keeping with TMZ, the women are completely effective — an nameless supply from Hilton’s camp claimed the requests simply received misplaced in Paris’ “hectic schedule” through an previous assistant and that Kim was “completely not mad” about it. I’ve to imagine one thing occurred, although — what’s pettier than agreeing to and canceling an interview 17 occasions?
